Hi Guys,

Would anyone have a rough tuning guide for a goldspar mast, Ive seen the basic guide in the class manual, but was hoping for something a little more specific, with rake measurements and tensions for the loos gauge.

Thanks

John

Hey John

Richard here in Korea. At the place where Boisen Muller won gold in his Dutchman

Norman has all our measurments. but from memory

from tip to tip the measurment to the track is about 160

lenght of speaders form middle of track to tip where stays go thru was about 800 I think.Fed is about 820 . The biggger the fellar on the wire the more out the spreaders are and forward. we were about 780 from memory

Call noman  or email norman@rydgemarine.com.au or it might be .com only cant remember

Ive never seen an FD sailor use a loos gage. its tight when its windy and loose when its not. Richard are you looking for FDs there in Korea, I beleive several were left there '87, 88 , would be good ones. at least one Lindsay, I reckon.

Its been champaign sailing here. what a awsome place to have the National team in camp for 2mths. Great. Not that cold. At night is cools down and on the H20 I have my wet weather gear on and fleece but I do that in Sydney on a normal summers day.

yer I have been told that there is a Few FDs around. Might find one to take for a sail. But pretty busy training these guys both on the H20 as well as runnign the Fitness side of things. So we run every AM for about 12k sessions They are so buggerd each day poor little things. haha>As Im doing the running as stuff with them its safe to say my Fitness is even better than what is was after my trialthon training  over the last 6 mths.GREAT. 82KGS .Will have to stear a FD if I keep loosing this weight

The basic rule with the side stays is that when you are going up wind you easy the sides off till the leward one is slack then pull it on a few hands. You do this with the Crew on the wire as well. But you need to "try" stuff to feel what is fast your your weight and your mast. As you guys are heaver you will be searching for power so push thos spreaders out to like 810, have the core at about 160 and away you go..

Hi, I am an aussie living in Washington DC, and I just bought a FD that looks like it is in reasonable shape.

But it is a long time since I sailed anywhere near a FD, and the rigging has me beat!

Anyone know where I can find a rigging diagram?

Regards

Cam

Hi Cam.

I don't have a diagram, but if you shoot me an email, I will send you some good detail rigging photos of a few different boats.
