How do we encourage the older FD's from hiding in garages? I would be interested to know if existing or new owners of older, particularly wooden, FD's would race for a "Classic" trophy as a part of a travelers series and or as a part of State and National titles. Would a decent bottle of wine attract a fleet of classics to a start line?

Many of the older boats can be put onto the water and sailed in reasonable conditions without too much hassle. Such boats are ideal for new comers to the fleet as they provide a low cost entry to a fantastic sailing experience whilst providing a stepping stone into the class. There is something about sailing a wooden boat which maybe just a fun thing in itself, any thoughts and ideas please. Matthew Mitchell

Thats a good idea for sure.

The SFS has a Port Jackson Championship for the Historical 18ft Skiffs. I think its 3 or 4 races. Perhaps have a small series in conjunction with those races.

They have a ferry watching the racing, live band afterwoods, a bbq, and "dick head" port for prizes.

Pete
