I have an old timber dutchy with no plaque. I'd appreciate it if anyone can identify the boat. It was found in Melbourne. It's cold moulded and would have been a beautiful boat in its day. It has a white hull with dark cedar decks, 1/2 bottom. It has a heap of old sails with sail number AUS 328, the more recent genoas have 2 or 3 holes for the clew. It has winches for stay tensioners and was quite well set up given it's age.

The trailer is also timber and the axle has been cut and lowered meaning the boat can be easily launched off the trailer.

Any information woul be greatly appreciated. I couldn't work out how to attach a picture but may try again later.

If this is KA328 then it was Ian Brown's boat Champayne the builder was listed as Somerville/Home built in 1979. It was placed 4th in the world championships in Geelong in 1982.

Colin

you are a wealth of knowledge

I am about to restore KA38 all wood .  Apparently is was built in Qld in 1950s?  named Hariot??? owned by Frank H....??  no other records except the sail number which is apparently original.

I am keen to know more about this historic boat??

it is now a gaffer??  was the early trial models a gaffer?

Anyone and all...?

i also need set of 2nd hand sails plse - main and mid range genoa.

Many thanks for any assistance to keep this old girl on the water as a social sailor..

cheers Nick

Nick,

Yes there are some ok sails, they're at a mates beach house which I won't be going to for a while but when I do I should be able to pick up a couple of mains and a couple of genoas suitable for an old boat. Problem is getting them to you. I'm in Melbourne There is also an old mast and some other bits and pieces. email me on jeffowen@optusnet.com.au directly.

Unfortunately, I pulled the deck off the boat to find what was under the decks to be completely rotted out. It had been happening for a while and the boat was bent and badly twisted. It was beyond repair. A crying shame to see the old girl go. The boat didn't have identification plates etc so I'm not convinced it was AUS328.
